Happy Tuesday.<br \/>\nThe <b>Asian\/Pacific<\/b> markets closed with sizeable losses. China fell 4.65, Hong Kong, India, Seoul and Taiwan more than 2% and Singapore more than 1%. Japan was closed.<br \/>\n<b>Europe<\/b> is mostly up. Austria, Belgium and Amsterdam are up more than 1%. There are no other 1% movers. France, Germany and London are ups slightly.<br \/>\nFutures here in the States are mixed and flat. 40 min before the open, <b>Nas 100 futures<\/b> are down 3.25 (0.22%) to trade at 1193.75 and <b>SPX futures<\/b> are up 0.25 (0.03%) to trade at 871.50.<br \/>\nThe <b>British economy<\/b> contracted 0.6% in the third quarter \u2013 more than expected \u2013 prompting expectations the <b>Bank of England<\/b> may cut interest rates to near 0% in the coming year.<br \/>\nStandard &#038; Poor\u2019s cut <b>GM\u2019s<\/b> (GM) debt rating and Moody\u2019s cut <b>Ford\u2019s<\/b> (F) debt rating.<br \/>\n<b>Starwood Hotels &#038; Resorts Worldwide<\/b> (HOT) had its corporate-credit rating cut by Standard &#038; Poor&#8217;s.<br \/>\n<b>CIT<\/b> (CIT) received approval to convert to a bank holding company, which will allow the commercial finance lender to receive a capital injection from the Treasury as part of the TARP program.
