Happy Tuesday.
The Asian/Pacific markets lean to the downside, but most markets are little moved from their unchanged levels. Japan closed up 2.7%, and South Korea dropped 0.9%. Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore dropped small amounts. Europe is currently mixed. Greece is up 2.2%, and Belgium is up 1%. Norway is down 1.05%, and Spain, Italy and Amsterdam are down 0.5-0.6%. Futures here in the States point towards a down open for the cash market.

The dollar is down. Oil is getting crushed (down 1.80); copper is down. Gold is up a small amount; silver is getting hit hard.
Yesterday was mostly a nondescript day for the market. It moved up and down and ended mixed and little moved from its unchanged level. Nothing very notable with the indexes considering the huge back-to-back up weeks we’ve had.
The only notable was oil, which dropped almost 2 bucks and closed at a new low. Lower oil means lower oil stocks, and considering how many oil stocks there are and how influential they are, it will be harder for the market to move up with oil tanking. Oh, and solar tends to do very poorly when oil drops. Why invest in solar when the main source of energy is falling? Today, as of an hour before the open, oil is down another 1.80 (and this is 1.20 off the low from 3-1/2 hours ago.
Intermediate term (next couple months) I like the market and think it goes higher and hits new highs.
Short term (next day or week) I just can’t chase stocks higher here. They’ve gone too far too fast and are in need of a rest. If I’m wrong, oh well.
