Before the Open (May 7)

Good morning. Happy Monday. Hope you had a good weekend.
The Asian/Pacific markets closed mostly up. China and Indonesia rallied more than 1%; Hong Kong, India and Taiwan also did well. South Korea and Malaysia dropped. Europe, Africa and the Middle East are currently mostly up. The UK, Germany, Denmark, Finalnd, Switzerland, Norway, Portugal, Austria and the Czech Republic are leading; Turkey and Greece are down. Futures in the States point towards a moderate gap up open for the cash market.

Fitch Ratings put Community Health System’s (CYH +0.63%) CCC issuer default rating on rating watch negative, saying the company’s offer to exchange three series of notes is a distressed exchange.

  1. The popular trading maxim of sell-in-May-and-go-away may prove misguided in 2018. This month could instead see America’s aging bull market flare up again before failing in the second half of 2018. I will go away, I did well last week feel guilty.
