The Asian/Pacific markets were weak. China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan and Australia posted the biggest losses. Europe is currently little changed. Hungary and Italy are up; Poland is down. Futures in the States prior to the jobs report were up a small amount.

The dollar is flat. Oil is down; copper is flat. Gold and silver are up. Bonds are mixed.

unemployment rate: 4.4% (was 4.5% last month)
nonfarm payrolls: +211K
private payrolls:
average workweek: up 0.1 hour to 34.4 hours
hourly wages: up 0.3% to $26.19/hour
labor participation rate:
March job gain cut from 98K to 79K.
February’s gain was raised from 219K to 232K.
After the release, futures added to their small gains.
