Before the Open (Aug 24)

Good morning. Happy Monday. Hope you had a nice weekend.
Other than the first couple minutes last Monday, last week was another good one. Everything move up…the indexes made new highs and closed near their highs. Many key groups did great. There are warning signs which are keeping me conservative, but the uptrend is firmly in place. …
Here’s the weekly SPX. It’s rallied about 360 points off the Mar low and about 155 since the July low. It’s into the thin trade area produced by the quick drop in Sept/Oct 2007 and the Bollinger Band is trending up thus giving it more room to move each week.

In the report posted over the weekend, I offered several warning signs. Among them was the Nas which did well last week but lagged slightly. Here’s another. The semis are also lagging.

That’s it for now. I don’t have much else to add to what was talked about over the weekend. More comments will be made after the open.

  1. I was introduced to Leavitt Brothers by a colleague, and have been following your “Before the Open” for a few months. You keep mentioning your “over the weekend Comments”. How would I get access to those? Also, can you give me some more info as to what all you provide to financial advisors, what you charge for your services, and what are the different levels (and costs) of the different services you provide?
    Thanks, Hal Otey (901) 683-0222

    1. Hi Hal…
Leavitt Brothers is a source of trading ideas for [mostly] independent traders. We do lots of research and find the stocks that have the best odds of making our members money. Besides our stock and option set ups, we write a report everyday after the market closes and a weekly report over the weekend (this is what you’re referring to). During the day we interact with our members on our Message Board which is populated by many talented traders sharing ideas etc.
The fee is $59.95/mo or $149.95/quarter or $499.95/yr. All memberships come with a 2-week free trial (your credit card is not charged until the end of the 2-week period).
If you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them.
      Jason Leavitt
