Before the Open (Dec 31)

Good morning. Happy Friday and everything else.
The last two weeks have been the slowest two-week stretch I can ever remember. Individual days have been slower, but two straight weeks of small ranges, low volatility, low volume etc. I’m ready for this year to be over. It’s been as if we’re waiting for a FOMC meeting for two weeks. Things should definitely pick up next week, if not Monday, at least by Tuesday.
Lots of things need to recalibrate or at least get in sync. Many indicators point towards a needed correction, but those indicators are derivatives of the price action, and since the price action has been super slow, those indicators may be giving off false signals. Once the new year begins, they may quickly reset themselves. Or maybe the indicators are right and prices will be doing the resetting.
There will be lots of opposing forces next week that need to be worked out, and just like 2010, there will be lots of money-making opportunities in 2011.
Have a good day. Have a great night. I worked in the bar/restaurant/dance club industry for many years – tonight is amateur night. It’s the night people who don’t normally go out, go out. If you must, it’s much better to go to a house party. Be safe, and I’ll see ya next year.
