Good morning. Happy Wednesday.
The Asian/Pacific markets closed mostly up. Korea and Singapore led the way with Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia and Taiwan following behind. Europe is currently mostly up. Russia is up 2%; Germany, France, Spain, Amsterdam and Switzerland are up 1%. Futures here in the States point towards a moderate gap up open for the cash market.
The dollar is up. Oil is up, copper is down. Gold and silver are up.
The market dropped Monday and then moved up Tuesday. The net has been an up week for the Dow, a flat week for the S&P and a down week for the Nas, Russell small caps and S&P mid caps.
The Nas and Russell have taken out previous lows. Some would say this defines a downtrend – lower highs and lower lows – but the technicians don’t take falling patterns into consideration…patterns that slant against the overall trend and act to “shake the tree” a little before legging up again. The Dow, SPX and mid caps have simple held their ground…they’re in consolidation mode.
Here’s the S&P over the last month. A sloppy mess. Rallies get sold, dips get bought. The market has not risen or fallen more than two consecutive days for an entire month. You cannot use trending strategies when the market is in chop mode. Adjustments are needed or you’ll chop your account. More after the open.

I am sticking with 4150 to 4175 on The Nas as an entry point. I did not like yesterdays action at all. Not as a bull or bear.
The A/D seemed a little weak the PC ratio was way too low for a bounce.
My guess is today,s gap up will not hold but I am not going to bet on anything.
I want to see the VIX up a bit the PC just over 1 and the NAS at 4150.. Then go long or be wrong.
Mkt followed the plan Tues. Gap open, pullback to 1856, resumed climb.
During the pullback, Support in the 1850 region (mentioned y’day)was tested and passed.
If you’re a bull, this is good price action. Down moves allow bulls to reload.
Important to remember: not every down move is bearish. Conversely, not every up move is bullish.
Depends on the trend. You have to be able to make the distinction.
