Good morning. Happy Tuesday. The Asian/Pacific markets closed mostly down – there were several 1% losers. Europe is currently down across the board – more than half the indexes are down at least 1%. Futures here in the States suggest a sizable gap down for the cash market (S&P down 9, NDX down 17).
Before the Open (Dec 7)
Good morning. Happy Monday. Hope you had a nice weekend. Last week was a pretty good one for the market. Everything closed up, and the small caps gained over 4%. Most of the indexes made new highs Friday, and we had several good breakouts. But warning signs persist, and we’re not getting much follow through. […]
The State of the Market
There’s lots of conflicting stuff out there, so I thought it was time to circle the wagons and get a sense of the positives and negatives. I don’t have all the answers, but this will at least give you an idea as to what I’m looking at.
Before the Open (Dec 4)
Good morning. Happy Friday. By itself, yesterday’s late-day sell-off wasn’t a big deal. The overall trend remains in tact, and the 3-week consolidation period continues. But looking a little deeper, a major warning sign may have been flash – a possible “canary in a coal mine.”
Before the Open (Dec 3)
Good morning. Happy Thursday. Here’s that chart of the S&P 500 emini futures contract again. Before the Open (Dec 2)
Good morning. Happy Wednesday. In case you missed it, after 7 years I finally posted an About page. I’m be adding more material to the page, but this is certainly a good start. The Asian/Pacific markets closed mostly up – there were a couple 1% winners. Europe is currently mixed and without any big movers. […]
Before the Open (Dec 1)
Good morning. Happy Tuesday. Every market on the planet is up. The Asian/Pacific markets closed up across the board – there were several 1% winners. Europe is currently posting solid gains – the worst performer is still up 1.6% – there are several 2% winners. Futures here in the States suggest a big gap up […]
Before the Open (Nov 30)
Good morning. Happy Monday. Hope you had a nice weekend. Side note: I didn’t always have good internet access last week, and when I did, I wasn’t always able to use my own computer. I’m a little behind responding to email etc. Give me a day or so, I’ll catch up. To the market: The […]
Before the Open (Nov 27)
Good morning. Happy Friday. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. The big news out while the market was closed here in the States came out of Dubai where an investment company has asked creditors if it can postpone its forthcoming payments until May. This caused massive selling in Europe and Asia which is now spilling […]
