Before the Open (Feb 4)

Good morning. Happy Thursday. The Asian/Pacific markets closed down across the board – there were a couple 1% losers. Europe is currently mostly down. Futures here in the States point towards a moderate gap down open for the cash market.

Good morning. Happy Wednesday. We entered the week with bull’s backs up against the wall. They needed to dig in and defend their turf or else the “pullback within an uptrend” would turn into a downtrend. So far, so good.

Short Term Breadth Indicators

For those of you who’ve followed my work for any length of time know I prefer breadth indicators over technical indicators, ergo I prefer the % of stocks trading above a certain MA over MACD. Let’s do a run down of two short term S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 and NYSE breadth indicators.

Good morning. Happy Tuesday. The Asian/Pacific markets closed down across the board – several indexes lost more than 2%. Europe is currently mostly down, but losses are minimal. Futures here in the States suggest a weakish open, but nowhere near as bad as where the futures were trading last night.
